Klara Weyl
Klara Weyl (born Haase, born January 7, 1872 in Frankfurt (Oder) , † October 21, 1941 in Berlin ) was a German social politician. She married the doctor Hermann Weyl , who was a city councilor and member of the State Health Office in Berlin. The couple's grave is in the Friedrichsfelde Central Cemetery in the Socialist Memorial .
Services
Klara Haase was politically active from an early age, initially as part of the trade unions. From 1890 she was a journalist and speaker. In 1894 she took part in the SPD party congress in Cologne. Klara Haase (later Weyl) and other Berlin comrades founded a complaints commission in 1898 to enable women workers to obtain legal information free of charge, as well as to forward data from workers to the trade inspection.
From 1902 Klara Weyl worked as an orphan carer for the city of Berlin. On April 20, 1903, the social democratic electoral association of women for Berlin and the surrounding area was constituted with her participation . From 1918 she was an SPD city councilor (temporarily USPD ) and became the first head of the newly created state youth welfare office in Berlin. In this position she supported Wilhelm Blume in founding the school farm on the island of Scharfenberg . She was a member of the welfare committee of the German Association of Cities , the main committee of the German Association for Public and Private Welfare and in general Welfare Education Day .
Honor
The boys' work home, which opened at the beginning of the 20th century in Gotlindestraße in the Berlin district of Lichtenberg , has been converted into a residential area since 2017 after several conversions . One of the two new traffic routes was given the name Klara-Weyl-Straße by resolution of the district council meeting .
