Bud Houser (actually Lemuel Clarence Houser ; born September 25, 1901 in Winigan , Missouri , † October 1, 1994 in Gardena , California ) was an American discus thrower and Olympic champion .

From 1921 to 1928 he always occupied one of the top places in the world's annual best list. He only achieved first place in 1926 when he set a world record on April 3 in Palo Alto with 48.20 m. This achievement should remain his best. In the shot put Houser was from 1924 to 1926 second in the world annual best list, his best performance was 15.42 m.

At the Olympic Games in 1924 he won two Olympic gold medals with 14,995 in the shot put and with 46,155 in the discus throw . In the history of the Olympic Games, only Robert Garrett in 1896 and Martin Sheridan achieved this double victory at the Olympic Intermediate Games in 1906. At the Olympic Games in 1928 , Houser was again Olympic champion in the discus throw with 47.32 .

After finishing his sporting career, Houser worked as a dentist in Palm Springs .
