Viktor Ivanovich Rashchupkin
Viktor Ivanovich Raschtschupkin ( Russian Виктор Иванович Ращупкин , English transcription Viktor Rashchupkin ; born October 16, 1950 in Kamensk-Uralsky , Sverdlovsk Oblast ) is a former Russian discus thrower who competed for the Soviet Union.
In 1979 he became Soviet champion after finishing second the previous year.
His only international success was winning the gold medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow with a personal best of 66.64 m. Imrich Bugár from Czechoslovakia was second with 66.38 m , followed by Luis Delís from Cuba with 66.32 m. The favorite was actually the world record holder Wolfgang Schmidt from the GDR, who finished fourth with 65.64 m.
Viktor Rashchupkin is 1.88 m tall and weighed 107 kg at competition times.
