Hermann Wolf (pianist)

Hermann Wolf (born March 19, 1937 in Zaßnitz ; † February 15, 2016 in Leipzig ) was a German pianist and piano teacher.

Career

Wolf studied at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . He was a Mendelssohn scholar, took part in international competitions and attended courses with, among others, Géraldine Agostini, Lajos Hernádi, Henryk Sztompka and Ludwik Stefański. He has given solo and orchestral concerts at home and abroad as well as lectures and courses. From 1971 to 1992 he taught piano at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig, and then at the "Johann Sebastian Bach" music school in Leipzig . He was a member of the German Chopin Society , from 1966 its secretary and from 1987 to 1994 its vice-president. Hermann Wolf made a name for himself above all through his interpretation of the works of Frédéric Chopin . He was the holder of the Order of Merit for Polish Culture.
