Hermann von Dewitz

Hermann Ulrich Otto von Dewitz (born November 29, 1854 in Wussow , Pomerania; † November 18, 1939 in Kassel ) was an officer, manor owner and member of the German Reichstag (1893–1907).

Life

Hermann von Dewitz was the son of Otto von Dewitz (1805–1881) and Ottilie, geb. von Dewitz (1818–1901). He received private lessons in his parents' house and was a member of the cadet corps in Potsdam and Berlin from 1866 to 1871 . Between 1871 and 1882 he was an officer in the Leib Grenadier Regiment "King Friedrich Wilhelm III." (1st Brandenburg) No. 8 . From 1882 to 1883 he was first lieutenant in the 1st Hanoverian Infantry Regiment No. 74 before he left for health reasons. In 1884 he acquired Schönhagen and since then has been a farmer and since 1886 head of the office. In 1890, 1893 and 1902 he was a member of the Pomeranian Provincial Synod, as well as a member of the District Synodal Board and the District Synod. He was a member of the district council of the Naugard district since 1896. He was an honorary knight of the Order of St. John . From 1912 he was on the board of the German Defense Association and from 1919 on the board of the Berlin National Club .

From 1893 to 1907 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency district of Stettin 6 ( Naugard , Regenwalde ) and the German Conservative Party . Between 1895 and 1918 he was also a member of the Prussian House of Representatives for the constituency of Stettin 5 (Naugard - Regenwalde).
