Hermann von Horn

Hermann von Horn , also Hoorn , († January 31, 1156 ) was Bishop of Utrecht from 1151 to 1156.

Life

Hermann von Horn was appointed archdeacon in Liège in 1136 and provost of St. Gereon's Basilica in Cologne in 1149 .

When Hermann von Horn ascended the bishop's seat in Utrecht in 1150, he initially had to assert himself against the opposing candidate Friedrich von Berg . The bishops Albrecht I of Meißen and Otto von Freising came specially to support Friedrich in the elevation to bishop. Hermann was able to assert himself with the help of the princes of Holland, Geldern and Kleve and Friedrich became Archbishop of Cologne in 1156.
