The Hermes Point is a headland at the Borchgrevink Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It marks the place where the Icebreaker and Fitzgerald glaciers flow together before they join Lady Newnes Bay .
The United States Geological Survey mapped the cape using its own surveys and using aerial photographs by the United States Navy between 1960 and 1964. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named Hermes Point in 1969 after Agustive Aloysius Hermes Jr., US Navy construction mechanic at Williams Airfield Field on McMurdo Sound in the Deep Freeze operations of 1967 and 1968.
