The Icebreaker Glacier is a large valley glacier in East Antarctica, Victoria Land . It flows 16 km northeast of Mount Monteagle from the Mountaineer Range in a southeast direction to Lady Newnes Bay . Below Hermes Point , it meets the ice masses of the Fitzgerald Glacier .
Participants of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (1958-1959) named the glacier in memory of the stakes of icebreakers ( English icebreaker ) of the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard in the service of exploration of Antarctica .
