Hermione May

Hermine May (born November 17, 1973 in Timișoara ) is a Romanian opera and concert singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

She studied at the Stuttgart University of Music and was then engaged by Götz Friedrich at the Deutsche Oper Berlin , of which she was a permanent member of the ensemble for three years until the end of the 1995/96 season. Since then she has sung under numerous conductors such as Zubin Mehta , Marek Janowski , Sylvain Cambreling , Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos , Gustav Kuhn , Pinchas Steinberg and Marcello Viotti at important stages and at festivals.

Hermine May has also successfully established herself in the Wagner trade with roles like Kundry, Ortrud, Venus and Brangäne and has also appeared in these roles internationally in cities such as Rome , Florence , Turin and Verona as well as at the Richard Wagner Festival Wels in Upper Austria .

Hermine May has also become known as a concert singer, for example with the Lied von der Erde by Gustav Mahler , Verdi's Requiem, Beethoven's Ninth or Lieder by Zemlinsky (both under Zubin Mehta), the alto rhapsody by Brahms or Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder.
