Henry Hunter Bryan

Henry Hunter Bryan (born February 23, 1786 in Martin County , North Carolina , †  May 7, 1835 in Montgomery County , Tennessee ) was an American politician . Between 1819 and 1821 he represented the state of Tennessee in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Henry Bryan was the younger brother of Joseph Hunter Bryan (1782-1839), who represented the state of North Carolina in Congress from 1815 to 1819 . He attended the public schools in his home country and then moved to Tennessee, where he held various local offices. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Republican Party .

In the 1818 congressional election , Bryan was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the second constituency of Tennessee , where he succeeded Samuel E. Hogg on March 4, 1819 . In 1820 he was confirmed. He entered his new legislative period on March 4, 1821 but not because he was no longer approved by Congress. His seat of parliament remained vacant for the next two years. After leaving the US House of Representatives, Bryan has not held any other higher office.
