Willa McCord Blake Eslick (born September 8, 1878 in Fayetteville , Tennessee , †  February 18, 1961 in Pulaski , Tennessee) was an American politician between 1932 and 1933 she represented the state of Tennessee in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Willa Eslick initially enjoyed a private school education. She later attended Dick White College and Milton College in Fayetteville, as well as the Winthrop Model School and Peabody College in Nashville, among others . She also studied at the Metropolitan College of Music and Synthenic School of Music in New York City . She married the Democratic politician Edward Everett Eslick , who was a Congressman from 1925 to 1932. Willa Eslick was also active as a board member in the Tennessee Democratic Party.

After the death of her husband, who died during his time as a member of Parliament, she was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC when the by-election was due for the seventh seat of Tennessee , where she received her new mandate on August 14, 1932 started. By March 3, 1933, she ended her husband's current legislative period. This made her the first Tennessee woman to be elected to Congress .

In the regular congressional elections of 1932 , she could no longer run for legal reasons. As a result, Willa Eslick did not hold any further political office. She died in Pulaski on February 18, 1961.
