Edward Everett Eslick (born April 19, 1872 in Pulaski , Tennessee , †  June 14, 1932 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between 1925 and 1932 he represented the state of Tennessee in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Edward Eslick attended the common schools and the Bethel College in Russellville ( Kentucky ). After completing a law degree and being admitted to the bar in 1893, he began to work in Pulaski in his new profession. He also worked in banking and agriculture. During the First World War he was on a hearing committee in Giles County .

Politically, Eslick was a member of the Democratic Party . In the 1924 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the seventh constituency of Tennessee , where he succeeded William Charles Salmon on March 4, 1925 . After three re-elections, he could remain in Congress until his death on June 14, 1932 . He died while giving a speech in the Capitol . When the by-election became necessary, his wife Willa was elected as his successor.
