Herron C. Pearson

Herron Carney Pearson (born July 31, 1890 in Taylor , Williamson County , Texas , †  April 24, 1953 in Jackson , Tennessee ) was an American politician . Between 1935 and 1943 he represented the state of Tennessee in the US House of Representatives .

Career

As a toddler, Herron Pearson came to Jackson, Tennessee, where he later attended public schools. In 1910 he graduated from Union University there . After a subsequent law degree at Cumberland University in Lebanon and his admission as a lawyer in 1912, he began to work in Jackson in his new profession; there he worked as a judge in 1915. From 1920 to 1923, Pearson was the city's legal representative.

Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party . In the 1934 congressional election he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the seventh constituency of Tennessee , where he succeeded Gordon Browning on January 3, 1935 . After three re-elections, Pearson was able to complete four terms in Congress by January 3, 1943 . It was there that many New Deal laws were passed by the federal government under President Franklin D. Roosevelt by 1941 . Since December 1941, the work of Congress has also been determined by the events of World War II .

In 1942, Herron Pearson renounced another congressional candidacy. After leaving the US House of Representatives, he retired from politics and practiced as a lawyer again. He died in Jackson on April 24, 1953.
