The manor house of Arbesbach in the Lower Austrian district of Zwettl is a building described in the Austrian art topography .

history

The Arbesbach manor house was built in 1593 under Erasmus II von Starhemberg and his guardian Johann von Tschernembl as a replacement for the manor house in Arbesbach Castle.

Especially in the 17th century, the manor house had numerous owners, including the Dietrichstein family . In 1877 it was bought by the Altzinger family, who until 1998 still exercised part of the patronage rights over the Arbesbach parish church through the Arbesbach forest estate .

The fire, which destroyed large parts of Arbesbach in 1745, also damaged the manor house.

description

The large square mansion in Arbesbach is a one-story building with seven windows on the simple street front facing the main square. In the middle there is a round arch portal, the stone setting of which is said to come from the castle gate. In the keystone is the year 1593. Above the archway is the coat of arms of Count Dietrichstein, carved in stone, from 1690.

The border between the upper floor and the attic is marked by a horizontal band of stone blocks protruding from the facade. The gable roof of the building was divided into three parts.

A central aisle connects the rooms on the ground floor as well as on the first floor. At the end of the 16th century, the ceiling was designed as a groin vault in the basement and as a mirror vault on the upper floor .

The manor house is adjoined by courtyard walls on both sides along the main square, each with a square arched gate, of which the right is labeled 1810.

In a niche on the upper floor of the manor house there is an Immaculate statue made of stucco by Johann Michael Flor and erected in 1770 under Count Leopold Maria von Dietrichstein. To the left of the main gate on the wall on a volute plinth is a baroque group of figures depicting St. Anne with little Maria from the end of the 18th century.
