The castle Arbesbach , called Stockzahn the Waldviertel , is the ruin of a high and late medieval hilltop castle , east of Purrath in the market town Arbesbach in the district of Zwettl in Lower Austria .

location

The ruin is located on a granite rock at around 900 meters above sea level on the western edge of the Waldviertel highlands . Their surroundings are characterized by dense coniferous forests , which are loosened up by island-like fields and meadows . history

The castle was the 12th century at the end of Hadmar II. The Arbesbach castle ruins are a popular destination. The Alexanderwarte offers a panoramic view from Bohemia to the Alps . On the weekends, members of the Arbesbacher Beautification Association are available to answer questions about the Waldviertel and the ruins. The system can be explored independently on the rest of the week.
