Hervé Dumont (born February 15, 1943 in Bern ) is a Swiss film scholar . As a film historian, he has made a name for himself primarily with research into Swiss film history . From 1996 to 2008 he was director of the Swiss Film Archive (Cinémathèque suisse).

Life

Hervé Dumont studied literature , art history and theater studies at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich , where he in 1973 with the thesis The Playhouse and City Theater Zurich 1921-1938 doctorate was.

Dumont is an internationally recognized film historian. He is the author of the standard works History of Swiss Film. Awards
