Hervormde Kerk (Kattendijke)
The Hervormde Kerk ( German Reformed Church ) is an Evangelical Reformed church in Kattendijke , a district of the Dutch city of Goes ( province of Zeeland ).
history
Between 1216 and 1248 Kattendijke was created as an independent parish as a parish of the Geerteskerk in Kloetinge . South of Kattendijke at today's Monnikenhof was a branch of the Cistercian monastery Ter Doest . The monks used the church as their burial place, as evidenced by epitaphs in the church today .
The Kattendijk Church was built around 1250. Today's single-nave aisle church is the result of construction work in 1404. After the introduction of the Reformation in 1611, the choir was no longer needed in the Reformed service and was closed in 1768. The walled-up triumphal arch can still be seen from the outside. The richly structured octagonal tower was added in the first half of the 17th century.
The reformed congregation belongs to the United Protestant Church in the Netherlands, which was established in 2004 .
organ
The organ was built in 1955 by the Verschueren organ building company. The instrument has 16 stops on two manuals and a pedal . The actions are electric.
