Herwig Pecoraro
Herwig Pecoraro (* 1957 in Bludenz , Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian opera singer with a tenor voice . Since 1991 he has been a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble .
Life
Herwig Pecoraro received vocal training at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory in Feldkirch. At the same time he was employed as a gendarmerie officer on the Arlberg. The chamber singer Elisabeth Schwarzkopf , who was on vacation in Schruns, referred him to Arrigo Pola in Modena , where he continued to take singing lessons for a year. In order to finance his studies he also worked for various balsamic vinegar manufacturers. After completing his studies, he was engaged at the Graz Opera House , where he was first tenor for seven years.
In 1991 Eberhard Waechter brought him first to the Vienna Volksoper and later to the Vienna State Opera , where he made his debut as the helmsman in the Flying Dutchman and since then as Jaquino in Fidelio , as Monostatos in the Magic Flute , as Pedrillo in the Abduction from the Seraglio , in the title role of the dream eater as well as Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos and as Bardolfo in Falstaff . Herwig Pecoraro is also a works council member, president of the soloists' association and member of the supervisory board of the Vienna State Opera.
Guest performances have taken him to the Bregenz Festival , the Salzburg Festival and the opera houses in Bern, St. Gallen, Hamburg, Munich, Paris, Nice, Toulouse, Milan, New York and San Francisco.
With his son, the singer and pianist Mario Pecoraro, he was repeatedly on stage under the motto Pop meets Classic and recorded the album For Us - Per noi in 2015 .
Pecoraro lives with his wife in Klosterneuburg , where he produces Aceto Balsamico .
