The Herz-Jesu-Kirche in the Rietberg district of Druffel is a branch church of the St. Margareta parish in Neuenkirchen . Church and congregation belong to the pastoral association of the Neuenkirchen parish in the Rietberg-Wiedenbrück deanery of the Archdiocese of Paderborn .
history
In its meeting on August 17, 1953, the church council of the Neuenkirchen parish decided to build a church in Druffel. In the same month, a building committee of 16 men was elected. The plans by the Paderborn architect Dietrich envisaged a 24-meter-long and 11.3-meter-wide church building with around 200 seats and a 29-meter-high tower.
In January 1954 the members of the building committee collected the sum of 45,268 DM in a house collection from 127 people. In the same month the farmer Konrad Wittreck gave the parish a 1 acre piece of land, which was exchanged for an equal part of the school land. After the Archdiocese of Paderborn had agreed to bear half of the construction costs, the groundbreaking ceremony was carried out on September 7, 1954.
The end of May 1955, directed the church tower and rang on 14 August 1955 the first time the ringing of the church bell . The f sharp tuned bell was cast in Brilon in 1923 and has a diameter of 108 cm and a weight of 665 kg. Before the bell donated by the Neuenkirchen Ellendorf family was used in Druffel, it was part of the Neuenkirchen chimes.
On September 23, 1956, the Church of Archbishop was Lorenz Jaeger ordained .
In the parish letter of February 27, 2011, it was announced that from April 1, 2011, regular Sunday services will no longer be held in the Sacred Heart Church.
The foundation stone shows the Christ monogram and bears the inscription “ Cor Jesu , miserere nobis! 1955 “(Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!).
