history

The Hoffenheim Catholics used to be looked after from Zuzenhausen . In 1883 the so-called chapel fund was formed , which collected money to build a Catholic chapel of its own. Donations were low and inflation did the rest, but after a generous donation, Carolina Engelhardt (1869-1958), who emigrated to America and had already donated the big bell for the Evangelical Church in 1920, converted to Catholicism in America in 1921 was to start building a chapel in the same year. This chapel was consecrated in 1923. It became too small in the early 1970s, so it was demolished in 1974 and replaced by the current church, consecrated in 1976.

In 1978 the glass work was completed according to designs by Franz Dewald . The window wall shows the seven sacraments, and the glass windows cover an area of around 107 square meters. In 2000 a bell tower was added to the church.

Bells

In 1925, after Karl Wilhelm Bauer and again Ms. Engelhardt had made a donation, the old chapel received a two-part bell that was cast by Hermann Heinrich Albers in Bruchsal. The bells had the chimes d '' and f '' and a total weight of 228 kg. One of the bells had to be delivered in the Second World War, the other went into the casting of a new two-part chime at Friedrich Wilhelm Schilling in Heidelberg in 1954 . The larger of the bells from 1954 has the strike tone d '', a diameter of 72.5 cm and a weight of 249 kg, the smaller one has the strike tone f '', a diameter of 60.1 cm and weighs 144 kg. After the bell tower was built in 2000, the bell was extended to include three more bells cast at the Bachert bell foundry in Heilbronn. The Christ bell strikes g ', is 100.8 cm in diameter and weighs 555 kg. The St. Anna bell has the strike note a ', a diameter of 91.2 cm and a weight of 489 kg.
