Heart (family)
Herz is the name of a German family of entrepreneurs that are associated with Tchibo . The family members are among the richest Germans .
Max Herz (1905–1965) founded the coffee mail order company Tchibo in 1949 together with Carl Tchilling-Hiryan . The name was derived from the name tchilling and beans. However, Tchilling left the company a short time later.
Max Herz married Ingeburg König in 1940 (1920–2015). The couple had five children:
- Günter Herz (* 1940),
- Joachim Herz (1941–2008),
- Michael Herz (* 1943),
- Wolfgang Herz (* 1950),
- Daniela Herz-Schnoeckl (* 1954).
Max Herz died in 1965. His son Günter Herz continues the company. In 1974 Tchibo acquired a minority stake in Beiersdorf AG and in 1980 the majority stake in Reemtsma . After disagreements about the company management, Michael Herz left the company management. In early 2001, Günter Herz gave his chairmanship in the Tchibo Holding AG , which under the name Maxingvest since 2007 operates decreases.
In 2003, Günter Herz and Daniela Herz were resigned, who founded Mayfair Asset Management with the capital . Michael Herz and Wolfgang Herz are shareholders in Maxingvest. Further shares are attributable to the Max and Ingeburg Herz Foundation and the Joachim Herz Foundation .
