The Hess River is a left tributary of the Stewart River in Canada's Yukon Territory .

The Hess River is created in the Selwyn Valley in the border area between the Backbone Ranges and the Selwyn Mountains through the confluence of several source streams. It initially flows through the Selwyn Valley in a south-southeast direction. It then turns west and flows north past the massif of Keele Peak . It maintains its predominantly westerly direction. Much of the catchment area of the Hess River includes the Hess Mountains , part of the Selwyn Mountains. In the south, the catchment area of the Hess River borders that of the Macmillan River . Shortly before its confluence with the Stewart River, the Hess River turns sharply north-northeast. The main tributaries of the Hess River are Rogue River and Pleasant Creek , both from the right.

A starting point for 2 to 3-week canoe trips on the Hess River is Keele Lake on the north flank of Keele Peak.
