Heterocordylus tibialis is a type of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae).

features

The bugs are 4.6 to 5.2 millimeters long. The bugs from the genus Heterocordylus are medium-sized black-colored animals whose bodies are covered with flattened, scale-like, pale hair. Heterocordylus tibialis can be determined on the basis of the brownish splints ( tibia ) and the width of the second antennae , which is only slightly thickened towards the tip.

Occurrence and habitat

The species is distributed from southern Scandinavia across western and central Europe to North Africa and across southern Europe and the Carpathians to Asia Minor and the Middle East. It is widespread in Germany and mostly common, especially in the south. It is rarer in Austria. More humid habitats are colonized than with Heterocordylus genistae and Heterocordylus leptocerus .

Way of life

The bugs live in Central Europe mainly on broom broom ( Cytisus scoparius ), less often on gorse ( Genista ). They feed on zoophytophagus. The nymphs hatch in April and develop into adult bugs by the end of April, more often by May. Mating and oviposition take place in June and July, in August, at the latest in September the adults die.
