Heymo Boehler

Heymo Böhler (born November 23, 1944 in Heidelberg ; † April 13, 2013 in Bayreuth ) was a German economist , known for his focus on marketing science.

Heymo Böhler studied economics at the University of Mannheim with a focus on sales management and organization. In 1976 he did his doctorate at the RWTH Aachen under Richard Köhler with the thesis "Methods and models of market segmentation" . In 1979 he followed Richard Köhler to the University of Cologne. After a post-doctoral scholarship from the German Research Foundation for business administration, he completed his habilitation there in 1983 with a thesis on "Strategic Marketing Early Detection" .

In 1984 he was appointed to the Chair of Marketing at the University of Bayreuth . Böhler is considered one of the personalities who led the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Bayreuth to its present-day importance.

His main research interests were:

  • Consumer behavior
  • Planning and implementation of marketing measures
  • Marketing controlling

Heymo Böhler was a co-founder and long-time president of the Business Research Center for Issues of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (BFM) at the University of Bayreuth and the initiator of the Bayreuth Economic Congress .

Heymo Böhler retired on March 31, 2010. He was honorary president of the 3rd Bayreuth Economic Congress. He died on April 13, 2013 in Bayreuth.
