Hidroeléctrica 5 de Noviembre (Spanish, German hydropower plant November 5th ) is a hydropower plant in the river basin of the Río Lempa in El Salvador . The operator is the Ejecutiva Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa . The power station bears his name in memory of the uprisings against Spanish supremacy in Central America that began on November 5, 1811 and which marked the beginning of the country's independence movement. The power plant was the first hydropower plant to be built in the San Salvador region as part of the national electrification promotion program . It is located in the La Chorrera del Guava area around 88 kilometers northeast of San Salvador.

The system at Hidroeléctrica 5 de Noviembre consists of a 65-meter-high gravity dam and the underground central turbine and generator systems. The accumulated water volume is around 320 million m³. On June 21, 1954, Hidroeléctrica 5 de Noviembre was inaugurated with an initial capacity of 30 MW, consisting of two Francis turbines and two generators of 15 MW each. The third unit with 15 MW was put into operation in March 1957, the fourth with the same output in September 1961 and the fifth turbine with 21.4 MW in July 1966. The first two Francis turbines with a horizontal arrangement were made by the Swiss Bell Maschinenfabrik which also manufactured the other turbines in expansion stages 3 and 5. Stage 4, also a horizontal Francis turbine, comes from Hitachi Ltd. from Japan. The generators for level 1, 2 and 3 manufactured Brown, Boveri & Cie. Switzerland, the generator 4 from Hitachi Ltd. and 5 from Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget . The total installed capacity is 81.4 MW. Around 457 GWh of electrical energy are produced annually.
