The hieroglyphic spotted beetle ( Pachybrachis hieroglyphicus ) is a beetle from the leaf beetle family (Chrysomelidae).

features

The beetles are 3 to 4.5 millimeters long and have a stocky build. The body has a yellow basic color and has a striking black pattern. On the throat plate , an M-shaped is spot on the deck wings elongated five spots, which can also flow into each other and may be so pronounced that the cover wings are colored predominantly black. In addition, both parts of the body are finely dotted with black, but the dots on the wings are clearly darker. The antennae are yellow at the base and dark at the tip. Her legs are red-brown, some with dark and yellow areas.

Similar species

Occurrence

The animals are found in large parts of Europe , east to west Siberia . They are absent in the far north and the British Isles . They are rather rare in the north. You can find them from May to July on damp meadows and along streams. They sit in pastures , especially white willows ( Salix alba ).
