Hieronymus Burckhardt
Hieronymus Burckhardt (born May 30, 1680 in Basel ; † May 7, 1737 there ) was a Swiss Reformed clergyman and university professor .

life and work
Burckhardt was the son of Johann Balthasar Burckhardt . After he had finished his theology studies in 1699, his study trips took him to the Netherlands , England and France .
As a pastor's assistant and pastor, he worked at various Basel churches. From 1709 Burckhardt worked at the Basel Minster Antistes and as a professor of theology at the University of Basel . He headed this three times as rector. Burckhardt was married to Katharina Ryhiner (1683-1727) since 1703.
