The Hiesfelder Wald nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the city of Oberhausen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area extends north of Sterkrade , a district of Oberhausen. West passes the A 3 , east the country road L 621 and the south A 2 . The L 397 runs through the area. To the east extends the 188 ha large nature reserve (NSG) Köllnischer Wald , to the south the 80.7 ha large NSG Sterkrader Wald and to the west the 31.4 ha large NSG Im Fort .

The approximately 409.5 hectare area, which consists of two sub-areas, was placed under nature protection in 1957 under the key number OB-001 .
