High Energy is a song written by Ian Levine and Fiachra Trench in 1983 and recorded with singer Evelyn Thomas . It was released as a single in April 1984 and reached top ten placements across Europe. The title refers to Hi-NRG , a successful style of electronic dance music at the time .

history

Evelyn Thomas had known the British music producer Ian Levine since 1975. She recorded several singles with him, two of which, Weak Spot and Doomsday , hit the UK charts. In 1983 Levine invited the singer to demo recordings in London . High Energy was recorded during one of these sessions . The song was written by Ian Levine and songwriter Fiachra Trench .

The single became a top ten hit across Europe. In Germany it stayed at number one for four weeks, in the Netherlands it reached number eight, in France number 18, in Ireland number twelve and in Norway number ninth. In the US, the song could not place in the top ten. The song remained Evelyn Thomas' only top 10 success, the following single only reached middle placements in Germany and England.
