Liel Kolet ( Hebrew ליאל קולט; * July 11, 1989 in Kibbutz Kvutzat Kinneret, Israel ) is an Israeli singer. She sings in seven languages ​​(English, Italian, German, French, Arabic, Spanish, and Hebrew) and plays the guitar . Kolet also composes himself.

Career

Kolet was born in Kibbutz Kinneret. She has Egyptian, Romanian, Indian and Yemeni ancestors. At the age of 12 she won a national singing competition. At the final in Italy she did not win first place, but the audience award with her interpretation of Ofra Haza's song Le'orech Hayam . Two years later she sang the song Imagine by John Lennon with former US President Bill Clinton to celebrate the 80th birthday of Israeli politician Shimon Peres . This performance helped her to become very popular. She sang other duets with Elton John , Bono and Richard Gere .

She showed her claim to convey peace with her music during performances at the European Parliament , the United Nations , UNICEF and UNESCO .

She became known in the USA when she gave six concerts in Salt Lake City at Christmas 2003 . In the United States, it is managed by Ken Kragen, who has looked after well-known musicians such as Lionel Richie and the Bee Gees . Jack White discovered her for Europe in 2004 and produced the first album with her, which was released in October 2005 and is marketed by his label Seven Days Music . On December 16, 2004, Liel performed at the José Carreras concert .

Kolet became known in Germany in October 2004 when she appeared in Frank Elstner's TV show Do you understand fun? occurred. In May 2005 Klaus Meine , singer of the Scorpions , became aware of her.
