The high nunatak is an isolated nunatak in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . In the Heritage Range of the Ellsworth Mountains, it rises from the glacial ice about 6.4 km east of the Liberty Hills in the Horseshoe Valley .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1966 after Elmer High, the "crew chief" of a helicopter of the 62nd Transportation Detachment of the United States Army for logistical support of a geological research expedition of the University of Minnesota , which was active from 1963 to 1964 in the area.
