Hilde Schmölzer

Hilde Schmölzer (as Hildegund ; * 1937 in Linz ) is an Austrian author.

Life

Schmölzer grew up in Steyr . After graduating from high school , she attended the Bavarian State School for Photography in Munich and took acting lessons from Ruth von Zerboni . She studied journalism and art history in Vienna and received her doctorate in 1966. She worked for 25 years as a freelance journalist for Austrian and Federal Republican newspapers and since 1990 only as an author of non-fiction books. At the Austrian PEN she was temporarily elected to the board. She is a member of the Graz Authors' Assembly.

Schmölzer has a son whom she raised as a single parent. In the 1970s, Schmölzer was one of the first authors to address the issue of women's emancipation.

Schmölzer was awarded the professional title of Professor in 2008.
