Hilde Uray

Hilde Uray (born October 2, 1904 in Schladming , Styria, † June 3, 1990 in Vienna ) was an Austrian sculptor and graphic artist .

Life

After training at the Kunstgewerbeschule Graz (1922 to 1923, wood carving), at the Kunstgewerbeschule Vienna (1923 to 1924, stone carving with Anton Hanak ) and technical training with craftsmen (potters, carpenters, stonemason), Hilde Uray worked as a freelancer from 1925. From 1927 to 1948 she was married to Hermann Leitich and had two children. During this time she was called Hilde Leitich or Hilde Leitich-Uray. She was buried at the Vienna Central Cemetery .

Other works

Some of her sculptures are owned by the church and owned by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education and the City Garden Directorate Vienna. Portrait busts ( Karl von Terzaghi , Franz Schmidt (composer) ) are in public buildings in Vienna. Numerous portrait busts, small sculptures and graphics are in private hands. The book "Roma Citta Eterna" (16 drawings, Edition Tusch 1975, ISBN 3-85063-040-4 ) is available as a publication .

Exhibitions

Uray had exhibitions in Vienna, Graz and Linz from 1929 to 1954 and took part in exhibitions in Milan, Turin, Genoa, Hamburg and Düsseldorf. Most recently, the Werkbund Wien held a Hilde Uray memorial exhibition in 1985 (Galerie in der Schmiede, 1010 Vienna).

Awards

She also received other prizes in Graz (1923 and 1925) and Vienna (1954 and 1960).
