Hildegard Hahn (born August 2, 1938 in Koslau ) is a German artist .

Life

She was born as the daughter of the engineer and sawmill owner Heinrich Josef Glaser and his wife Marie in Czechoslovakia , where she lived with her parents and siblings until she was seven. After the end of the Second World War , the family was expelled and settled in Germany, first in Eisenach, then near Stuttgart and later near Freiburg im Breisgau .

Hildegard Hahn studied from 1957 to 1961 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and philosophy at the University of Stuttgart, among others with Manfred Frey and Max Bense .

She married a geologist and worked as an art teacher in school.

After the sudden death of her husband, she moved to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with her children in 1975 . Slowly she was able to assert herself in the Spanish art scene. However, she did not break contact with galleries and museums in Germany. Since 1960 she has participated in various exhibitions, including in the Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart and the Kunstverein Freiburg . Her works can be found in German and Spanish, public and private collections.

She lives and works in Las Palmas .

Hildegard Hahn created paintings, drawings, objects, collages, scenarios, sculptures, photographs and videos, later more and more often in a combination of the aforementioned forms of representation. Her works developed in parallel to her life in different periods.

After moving to the island in the 1970s, the abstraction acquired in the 1960s was followed by a new view of the landscape and the sea. From the mid-1980s he began creating large-format, colorful, very expressive paintings. Hahn later worked mainly in the field of object and conceptual art. At the same time, he kept making drawings and paintings.
