Hildy Beyeler
Hilda "Hildy" Beyeler (born July 14, 1922 in Basel as Hilda Kunz; † July 18, 2008 in Riehen ) was a Swiss art collector .
Life
In 1948 she married Ernst Beyeler and supported him in setting up the art dealership Galerie Beyeler. She later built up the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen with him . Above all, she has brought together works of the "Classical Modernism". The collection was incorporated into a foundation in 1982 and has been presented in its own museum since 1997.
Together with her husband as well as Trudl Bruckner and Balz Hilt , Hildy Beyeler was one of the founders of Art Basel , which is now considered the world's largest art fair for contemporary art.
In 1997 she received the “Basler Stern” as a thank you for her work for the city.
