An assistance Tanklöschfahrzeug (short HTLF ) was an emergency vehicle of the fire brigades . It was a variant of an all-round fire engine that was only common in Hessen . It represented a combination of two different vehicle types - namely a rescue vehicle 1 and a tank fire engine similar to the TLF 16/25 . It combined the advantages of both vehicle types. On the one hand, the HTLF had a built-in water tank and, on the other hand, a hydraulic rescue kit for technical assistance, e.g. B. in traffic accidents. At the same time a HTLF was independent of the local fire water supply to the fire to make sure.

Normalization

The HTLF did not have a DIN standard. In the state of Hesse, however, there were building guidelines for these vehicles. According to the Hessian Fire Brigade Organization Ordinance, it was able to replace a conventional LF 16/12 and a rescue vehicle 1 with its loading and equipment . However, the building guidelines were deleted with the standardization of HLF 20/16 , as they had become almost superfluous due to the similarities between the two vehicles. However, there are still numerous HTLFs in service today.

In contrast to the fire fighting vehicles (LF), the HTLF should only be manned by a squadron (1/5 - squadron leader, machinist, attack squad and water squad of 2 people) like the TLF 16/25. In the vehicle designation auxiliary tank fire engine XX / YY (short: HTLF XX / YY) the first number XX indicates the nominal flow rate of the fire extinguishing centrifugal pump, in 100 liters of water per minute at nominal pressure (according to the new standard 10 bar, according to the old standard 8 bar). An HTLF 20 / YY can therefore pump at least 2,000 liters of water per minute. The second number YY indicates the usable content of the extinguishing water tank in 100 liters. According to the guideline, an HTLF should have a tank with at least 2,400 liters of extinguishing water. This made the HTLF 16/24 the standard type of emergency tank fire engine.

loading

The vehicle had an extensive load for technical assistance and fire fighting.

The loading consisted of:

In addition, an HTLF 16/24 had an integrated centrifugal fire pump with a nominal flow rate of 1600 l / min at 8 bar as well as an integrated extinguishing water tank of 2,400 liters (+ 200 l foam compound). The total weight could not be more than 13,500 kg.

criticism

It was often criticized that with the HTLF, a vehicle that was not standardized according to DIN EN was used on a large scale. This trend would have led to an excessive variety of types and thus made it difficult to compare the emergency vehicles. In addition, the deployment concept contradicted each other. Because a tank fire engine is naturally not intended for technical assistance or for a comprehensive fire-fighting attack, but primarily serves to transport water. However, this criticism was already expressed in the TLF 16/25, which also led to the elimination of the corresponding DIN standard.
