Hilton Fisher (born December 1, 1966 in Cape Town , South Africa ) is a South African teacher , civil servant and diplomat .

Career

Fisher received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988 and a Higher Diploma in Education from the University of the Western Cape in 1989 . Fisher then began teaching in Mitchell's Plain in 1990 . At the same time, Fisher studied further and received a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of the Western Cape in 1993. In 1996, Fisher accepted a position as translator and editor for the Hansard in the language service of the South African Parliament. Here he became editor-in-chief in the “Legislation and Procedure” department. Fisher later moved to the National Treasury and served with the Government Employees Pension Fund as chief of communications and customer services.

In 1998, Fisher received his Masters in Public Administration from the University of Pretoria's School of Public Management and Administration, and received his Ph.D. in the same subject in 2006 . Another academic degree with honors degree awarded Fisher in International Politics at the University of South Africa . His last professional career so far in public administration took him to the secretariat of the cabinet office. Fisher also worked as a lecturer and external examiner at the University of Pretoria and at the University of the Western Cape, while he published several scientific papers.

In 2013, Fisher became the South African ambassador to Chile (appointed in 2012). This was followed by the appointment as South African ambassador to Indonesia and East Timor . He handed over his credentials in Jakarta on January 17, 2018 and in Dili on March 1, 2019.
