Hinauri Petana

Hinauri Petana is a Samoan diplomat.

Career

Petana received in 1979 a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Management from the University of the South Pacific in Suva ( Fiji ).

From September 1979 to 2009, Petana worked in the Samoas Ministry of Finance, and between 1999 and 2009 as Chief Executive Officer . Petana was also temporarily seconded to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), represented Samoa at the IMF, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), was chairman of the Samoa National Provident Fund, the Samoan Development Bank and the Samoa Qualifications Authority, and held senior board positions most state-owned companies. In October 2009 she switched to the private sector as a consultant, among others for AusAID, the ADB, the United Nations Development Program and NZAID.

In March 2015, Petana succeeded the late Lemalu Samau Tate Simi as Samoa's first female High Commissioner for Australia . On June 24, 2015, she delivered her credentials in Canberra .

She also has a second accreditation as a Samoan ambassador or high commissioner in Indonesia , Qatar , Malaysia , East Timor , Singapore and Thailand . She handed over her credentials for Indonesia and East Timor in 2016 and for Singapore on February 23, 2017.
