The house at Hindenburgstrasse 15 is a building in Darmstadt .
History and description
The two-story house was designed by the architect Jakob Krug in 1925 and built in 1926 and 1927. Stylistically, the house belongs to Expressionism .
The broad side of the block-like, symmetrical building is oriented towards Hindenburgstrasse . The roof ridge is aligned in depth. The originally existing, small gable of the entrance area no longer exists today. The stair-like gradation of the attic ends in a pointed gable. The horizontal is emphasized by cornices . The shape of the pointed gable - which was previously emphasized by a double cornice - was repeated in the skylights and the window canopies on the ground floor , today only in the parapet of the roof terraces and in the lattice of the fencing . The floor plan made it possible to assign an open area to each room. The balcony above the north bay is now built over.
Monument protection
Despite the changes, the house is an example of expressionist architecture in Darmstadt. For architectural and city-historical reasons, the building is a cultural monument .
