Hinrich Alpers

Hinrich Alpers (* 1981 in Uelzen ) is a German pianist .

Life

Hinrich Alpers received his first piano lessons at the age of six, studied from the age of eleven with Bernd Goetzke at the Hanover University of Music and Drama, and from 2005 spent a year at the Juilliard School ( New York ) with Jerome Lowenthal . In 2004 he won first prize at the international Grieg piano competition . He was also a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation. As a soloist and chamber music partner, he began his career with numerous appearances in northern Germany. After various international awards and appearances at renowned festivals, he made his debut at New York's Carnegie Hall in 2008 . Following the publication of a CD with works by Robert Schumann, he performed in the Berlin Philharmonic and in Munich's Gasteig in 2009 .

In December 2009 Alpers won the International Telekom Beethoven Competition in Bonn. He is the initiator and artistic director of the International Summer Academy Lüneburger Heide, which has existed in his hometown of Uelzen since 2010 and takes part in masterclasses for piano, double bass, violin, viola and violoncello.

Hinrich Alpers lives in Berlin and teaches piano and chamber music at the Barenboim-Said Academy there.
