The Hintere Madatschspitze is a 3430 m (according to other information also 3432 or 3428 m ) high mountain in the Ortler Alps . It rises in the Italian Stelvio National Park . The border between South Tyrol and Lombardy runs over its summit .
Location and surroundings
The Hintere Madatschspitze rises in a multi-peaked rock ridge, which branches off from the crystal ridge (or main ridge of the Ortler Alps) in a northerly direction. The other peaks of this ridge, which extends between the glacier areas of the Madatschferner and Trafoier Ferners towards Trafoital , are the Mittlere ( 3313 m ) and the Vordere Madatschspitze ( 3191 m ). The closest peaks in the Kristallkamm, just 150 m away, are the Tuckettspitze ( 3462 m ) in the southwest and the Kleine Schneeglocke ( 3411 m ) in the southeast .
Climbs
The Hintere Madatschspitze is the most frequently visited summit of the three Madatschspitze. The Livriohütte at Stilfser Joch usually serves as the starting point . The usual climbs are glacier tours and finally reach the summit via an easy firn ridge .
