Back alley 26 in Gronau

The building at Hintergasse 26 in Gronau , a district of Bensheim in the Bergstrasse district in Hesse , is a protected cultural monument . It was the home of the Marquart family, who provided several mayors of the place.

history

Around 1700 the courtyard was owned by the Schulzen Johann Caspar Marquart, whose family later provided other mayors. On the night of May 11th to May 12th, 1695, an accident occurred behind the house when 7-year-old Maria Walpurgis, Marquart's granddaughter, spent the night outside and froze to death.

Today's house is likely to have been built around 1750. The neighboring property, Hintergasse 28, also goes back to the Marquart family; it was built in 1755 after the cellar was dated.

description

Gable-independent, two-storey half - timbered house with a gable roof . The ground floor, which has probably been largely renovated, is plastered, the half-timbered structure is exposed on the upper floor and has a man-corner construction and a firebock in the pointed gable , as well as rounded filler wood and a profiled threshold to the upper floor. The barn belonging to the Hofreite was renewed, and another farm building that had previously existed was demolished. The courtyard limits the entire Gronau complex to the north and is of local and architectural significance.
