Hippobroma Longiflora is a plant from the family of the bell flower plants (Campanulaceae) and the sole species of the genus Hippobroma .

description

Hippobroma longiflora is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows upright or prostrate and reaches a height of up to 50 (rarely up to 90) centimeters. Their sessile leaves are elliptical to inverted-lanceolate, 10 to 20 (rarely from 5) centimeters long and 2 to 5 (from 1) centimeters wide and toothed alternately large and small.

The crown of the single flowers is white, occasionally nerved green , the bald corolla tube 5 to 13.5 centimeters long.

The fruits are 1.2 to 2 centimeters long, drooping capsules .

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28.

distribution

The species comes from the West Indies , presumably Jamaica, but is now also widespread in Central and South America from Mexico to Peru and Brazil and in Asia as a neophyte.
