The Hirli (Hurde / Hürde) is a ridge head on the east ridge of the Matterhorn above Zermatt with a height of 2889  m above sea level. M. The road to Hörnlihütte , the starting point for climbing the Matterhorn via the normal route of the Swiss side, leads below over.

A round hump is in front of the Hirli a little to the east . This - known locally as Hörnli , since December 2015 also known as Hirli ( 2775  m above sea level , Lage ) - used to be accessed by a ski lift in winter. This ski lift opened in 1962. At that time it had wooden supports. However, this did not prove successful and so the wooden masts were replaced by iron supports as early as 1965. This ski lift operated until April 2015. After that, it was replaced by a detachable 6-seater chairlift. The valley station of the chairlift is around 250 meters lower than the ski lift before. The chairlift is a major upgrade of the Schwarzsee ski area.
