Hitomi Shimura ( Japanese 紫 村 仁 美 , Shimura Hitomi ; born November 8, 1990 in Tosu , Saga Prefecture ) is a hurdler who specializes in the 100 meter distance .

Athletic career

Hitomi Shimura gained her first international experience at the 2013 Asian Championships in Pune , where she was disqualified in the final. She also qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , but retired there with 13.72 s in the first round. Two years later she was at the Asian Championships in Wuhan in 13.48 s fifth, as well as at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar 2017. She also qualified again for participation in the World Championships in London , where she was 13.29 s in the lead retired. In 2018 she took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time , finishing seventh in 13.74 seconds.

In 2013 and 2015 Shimura became the Japanese champion in the 100 meter hurdles. She graduated from Waseda University in Tokyo with a degree in sports science .
