history

The inland steamship was built in Copenhagen by Baumgarten & Burmeisters Maskinbyggeri, later known as Burmeister & Wain . The ship has the new shipyard no. 15, of which only two steamships were built.

The launch took place on June 11, 1861. On June 15, the Hjejlen was transferred to its place of operation and officially put into operation on June 24, 1861 in the presence of King Frederik VII .

technology

The wheelhouse and engine room are located amidships. The machine output is around 25 hp. At 1.70 meters, the draft is correspondingly small for the area of operation. The two impellers are also mounted amidships, one on each side. The length of the steel hull is 26.90 meters (waterline 25.70 meters) and the hull width is 3.80 meters.

The ship has a free bow section with benches, while the rear section has a closed saloon (below deck), which was dedicated to Countess Louise Danner . The outdoor seats with a light roof are located in the rear area. The operator is "Hjejleselskabet Reederei", which also operates other historic ships.
