Holy Trinity (Walchs)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Holy Trinity is a Roman Catholic chapel in Walchs , Upper Swabia , part of the municipality of Stetten . The chapel belongs to the parish of Erisried .

history

The chapel was built in 1849 on the site of a dilapidated predecessor. The residents of Walchs bore the costs. The master carpenter Wiest from nearby Mindelheim made the plan . Around 1900 the now dilapidated chapel was renovated. The west-facing, flat-roofed building has an arched segment end. There are two small arched windows in each of the long walls . In the east an arched door is let into the wall between round peep windows . On the outside, a protruding eaves cornice continues on the corners of the east side that are raised with smooth plaster.

The altar was probably made at the end of the 17th century and is similar to the old side altars in Stetten. However, the wood was only taken around 1900. It has a sarcophagus stipes and a four-column structure. The outer columns are staggered. The entablature is cranked, the frieze has an auricular decor. The gable has been blown up. The altarpiece with the Holy Trinity was painted on sheet metal around 1900. The chairs with plank cheeks probably date from the 19th century. A painting of St. Otmar as the cattle patron is a copy from 1943. The original from 1793 was formerly in the chapel and is currently hanging in the parish church of Eutenhausen , Markt Rettenbach parish .
