The Hochalp ( 1,529 m above sea level ) is a mountain in the Appenzell Alps , about six kilometers south-southwest of Urnäsch and five kilometers west-northwest of Schwägalp , eight kilometers as the crow flies from Säntis .
There are basically four access routes of different lengths to the Hochalp: from the west (Hemberg), from the north (Urnäsch, Fahrstrasse up to about 1200 m), from the east (Gasthaus Rossfall on Schwägalpstrasse) and from the southeast (Schwägalp, over the Spicher ) .
To the west of the main summit, at an altitude of 1519 m, is the Hochalp mountain inn , which has been family-owned since the 1920s.
