Hans Günter Hockerts
Hans Günter Hockerts (born February 7, 1944 in Echternach ) is a German historian . Until the 2008/2009 winter semester he held the chair for contemporary history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .
Live and act
After graduating from high school (1963 in Trier ), Hans Günter Hockerts studied history, German and philosophy. After completing his doctorate in 1969 with Konrad Repgen , he passed the first state examination at Saarland University in 1970 . From 1975 to 1976 he was a habilitation fellow from the German Research Foundation and completed his habilitation in 1977 at the University of Bonn . In 1980 he received a Heisenberg grant from the German Research Foundation, and in 1981 he received a professorship in the Department of Modern History and Contemporary History at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. In 1982 he accepted a chair for this subject at the University of Frankfurt am Main . In 1986 he returned to the Chair of Contemporary History in Munich. In the 1999/2000 college year he was a research fellow at the Historisches Kolleg in Munich. His academic students include Elisabeth Kraus, Dieter Pohl and Sybille Steinbacher .
Hockerts is a member of the historical commission at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences , where he heads the files department of the Reich Chancellery, Hitler government 1933–1945 . He serves on numerous scientific advisory boards and commissions, is a corresponding member of the parliamentary committee in Berlin and is a member of the jury of the Geschwister-Scholl-Preis and the board of trustees of the Collegium Carolinum .
