Klaus Gotto

Klaus Rudolf Gotto (born April 22, 1943 in Trier ; † January 25, 2017 in Bonn ) was a German historian and political official .

Life

Gotto studied history and German in Saarbrücken , received his doctorate in 1969 under Konrad Repgen and became a research assistant and managing director of the Commission for Contemporary History in Bonn. Since 1976 he was the first director of the Archive for Christian Democratic Politics (ACDP) of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Sankt Augustin .

In 1989 he became group leader for social and political analyzes in the Federal Chancellery . His focus here included the museum projects German Historical Museum Berlin , House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn, as well as federal memorials, especially the Neue Wache in Berlin.

In 1993, Gotto moved from the Federal Chancellery to the Federal Government's Press and Information Office , where he was Head of the Domestic Department until 1998 with the rank of Ministerial Director. Public relations work for the introduction of the European Economic and Monetary Union was one of his priorities.

Most recently he was managing director of the political consultancy firm dimap consult.
